“My favourite hiking trail is the Alexander Enzingerweg in Kaprun. From the hotel you walk through the village to the Kaprun Centre. Take the Maiskogel cable car up and you’re off into nature. From the top station you can take a leisurely walk to the Glocknerblick. My tip: Tini, the mountain innkeeper, makes the best Kaiserschmarren ;-).

Well-strengthened, the hike is then really uphill. A great workout for legs and heart. At the top of the Schoppachhöhe you are already at the highest point and can enjoy a dream view over Lake Zell to the Hochkönig. In front of you is the Kitzsteinhorn, which you hike towards along the Enzingerweg.

Next stop: the Salzburgerhütte. My absolute favourite dish there is the vinegar sausage with homemade elderberry water. The panorama of the Hohe Tauern is breathtakingly beautiful. Take the Langwiedbahn back down into the valley and back to Kaprun. And then, of course, a splash on the terrace of Luis Gardens.
